DIAGNOSTICS: BODY TESTING

  ...find out for sure

Whether results come back positive or negative, metals test results usually make people happy...

Negative results can be good news.  But positive results finally provide a smoking gun, a reason behind the health mysteries  A reason that can be reversed...

Types of Testing for BASELINE

Hair Minerals  assesses mineral imbalance, wasting, or deficiency

Hair Metals  tests what body is able to excrete

Red Blood Cell (RBC) Minerals  most accurate levels

Fecal Challenge Test  most accurate for liver, fat/lipid-based chelators

Urine Challenge Test  most accurate for kidney, water-based chelators

Blood Test (whole blood or serum) only accurate for exposures less than 24 hours ago

It's a little             Complicated...

Because so many different chelators and metals and body organs are involved, when testing the body, a heavy metals lab result can be a confusing report for patients to read and interpret:

a) a "lab report form" may have all possible metals on it, even the ones NOT being "TESTED" by you or your doctor.

b) only SOME of the metals on the page are actually tested by any one "provoked" test. For this reason, chelators are often used in combination.

c) Result... just because the form results show "none," that doesn't always mean you "have none."

  • An increasing number of doctor organizations will help you find a chelation doctor in your area.

  • Chelation doctors will help you obtain in depth testing for metals. See doctors specializing in "Integrative Medicine" and/or "Functional Medicine"

  • A preliminary UNPROVOKED test is often (not always) conducted as a baseline.

  • Next, doctors often give one dose of chelator to find out what the chelator is able to "pick up AND take out" from your body.

  • Because metal elements are very different from each other, different kinds of "chelators/chemical sponges" pick up different metals. We discuss only the big 5 of about 25 toxic heavy metals: mercury, gadolinium, lead, cadmium, arsenic

  • Doctors often use only the test method(s) they know best, so each different doctor might provide incomplete testing results.
